Von Stiehl Leads the Way with the First Door County-Grown Grapes to Win a GOLD MEDAL…

Produced with grapes grown in Door County, von Stiehl’s “Stoney Creek Blush” has been awarded a Gold Medal for its outstanding quality! The blush was produced with Marachal Foch, grown in von Stiehl’s Stoney Creek Vineyards. The first vintage (2002), was bottled last November at a special “vineyard release party” held in Algoma. The Door County vineyards are now six years old. “Full maturation of the vines begins at five years of age,” commented gold medal-winning winemaker Aric Schmiling. “With the vines fighting our harsh winters and short growing season, it’s difficult to create this impressive standard of winemaking.” Watch for von Stiehl’s 2003 harvest to be bottled in November 2004.
